Les batteries au lithium de nos smartphones font toujours l'objet d'\u00e9tudes approfondies pour am\u00e9liorer leur capacit\u00e9, leur dur\u00e9e de vie, ou bien leur vitesse de recharge. Des chercheurs n\u00e9erlandais ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une nouvelle architecture pour nos batteries, qui pourrait nettement acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la recharge rapide.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

En se concentrant sur la mani\u00e8re dont se d\u00e9place le lithium entre deux \u00e9lectrodes, des chercheurs n\u00e9erlandais de l'universit\u00e9 de Twente ont mis un point un nouveau design pour nos batteries au lithium<\/strong>, qui pourrait \u00e0 terme nettement acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer les temps de recharge. Cette architecture int\u00e8gre des canaux sp\u00e9ciaux qui permettent d'augmenter le flux d'ions lithium.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seulement, ce design ne serait rien sans de nouveaux mat\u00e9riaux appel\u00e9s NbWO : les oxydes de niobium et de tungst\u00e8ne<\/strong>. Ces mat\u00e9riaux pourraient \u00eatre amen\u00e9s \u00e0 remplacer le graphite<\/strong> que l'on utilise comme \u00e9lectrode n\u00e9gatif dans nos batteries au lithium actuelles. Dans les NbWO, les ions de lithium se d\u00e9placent bien plus vite, d'apr\u00e8s les dires des chercheurs.<\/p>\n

Ces mat\u00e9riaux ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 fait l'objet d'\u00e9tudes pouss\u00e9es, notamment \u00e0 Cambridge o\u00f9 des scientifiques avaient d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 et test\u00e9 une batterie compos\u00e9e de grandes particules de NbWO, dispos\u00e9es sous la forme de pilier. Les \u00e9quipes de l'universit\u00e9 de Twente ont opt\u00e9 pour une autre approche : que se passe-t-il quand on r\u00e9duit les particules de NbWO \u00e0 l'\u00e9chelle nanom\u00e9trique<\/strong> ?<\/p>\n
