L\u2019Europe d\u00e9veloppe un processeur d\u00e9di\u00e9 aux ordinateurs haute performance qui sera produit chez TSMC. Le composant, grav\u00e9 en 6 nanom\u00e8tres, a \u00e9t\u00e9 partiellement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par le pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019EPI, le projet financ\u00e9 par le programme Horizon 2020 de l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne pour cr\u00e9er des composants. Ce processeur entrera en test fin 2020 et n\u2019en sortira qu\u2019un an apr\u00e8s.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 tr\u00e8s r\u00e9cemment, les initiatives autour des processeurs de supercalculateurs et de PC hautes performances sont Am\u00e9ricaines, Chinoises et Japonaises. Depuis juin 2019, l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne a choisi d\u2019investir pour d\u00e9velopper sa propre technologie. L\u2019id\u00e9e n\u2019est pas forc\u00e9ment d\u2019\u00eatre les meilleurs, mais davantage de s\u2019appuyer sur une plate-forme maison pour ne pas \u00eatre tributaire des autres. Le programme Horizon 2020 a donc financ\u00e9 la cr\u00e9ation du groupement EPI (acronyme d\u2019European Processor Intiative) dont l\u2019objectif est de cr\u00e9er un processeur pour les PC hautes performances Made in Europe<\/strong> !<\/p>\n

Ce processeur n\u2019avait jusqu\u2019\u00e0 tr\u00e8s r\u00e9cemment jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9voqu\u00e9 dans le d\u00e9tail. Jean-Marc Denis, pr\u00e9sident du conseil d\u2019administration d\u2019EPI, s\u2019est entretenu avec le site Next Platform et a d\u00e9voil\u00e9 quelques-unes des sp\u00e9cificit\u00e9s de ce premier composant. Tout d\u2019abord, cette puce s\u2019appuiera sur des unit\u00e9s de calcul \u00e9labor\u00e9es \u00e0 partir de la plate-forme Zeus du consortium britannique ARM<\/strong>. Cette architecture est d\u00e9di\u00e9e aux processeurs d\u00e9di\u00e9s aux serveurs et aux PC hautes performances.<\/p>\n
